The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy at the start of free agency.
Aside from reportedly agreeing to a handful of contracts, ESPN’s Field Yates reported Wednesday morning that the team restructured the contracts of stars Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones.
The restructures free up $49.446 million, a necessary move for the Chiefs to make in order for their signings official when the new league year begins at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. According to Over the Cap, Kansas City was projected to be $19 million over the 2025 salary cap.
Mahomes is under contract until 2031, while Jones is tied in until 2028. The restructures simly push money from this year down the line.
The Chiefs reportedly agreed to big deals in the legal tampering period with offensive tackle Jaylon Moore (two years, $30 million) and cornerback Kristian Fulton (two years, $20 million).
