The San Francisco 49ers have lost their star tight end for at least four weeks while moving on from their struggling kicker.

San Francisco placed tight end George Kittle on injured reserve and waived kicker Jake Moody on Tuesday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

Kittle, who left Sunday’s 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks with a hamstring injury in the second quarter, will now be required to miss the team’s next four games.

The 31-year-old tight end has dealt with several minor injuries in his career but has played at least 14 games in seven of his eight seasons. He has had four seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving and led San Francisco with 78 catches for 1,106 yards and eight TDs last season.

Meanwhile, the search for a new kicker in San Francisco is on after Moody, a 2023 third-round pick, missed two field goals inside 40 yards against the Seahawks.

Moody’s struggles on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks were a continuation of last season, when he went 24-of-34 on field goals, including 6-of-11 from 40 yards or longer.

On Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan stood by Moody, saying there was “no question” he would be San Francisco’s kicker in Week 2 against New Orleans.

But just 24 hours later, Moody is now searching for a new home.
