Remember Monday Speak Out On Their Eurovision Experience After Getting Zero Points From Viewers

Remember Monday have insisted they’re taking away positive memories after a mixed bag at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

On Saturday night, the British girl group were the UK’s representatives at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland with their song What The Hell Just Happened?.

The three-piece managed to secure 88 points from the contest’s juries, putting them at 19th place out of 26 finalists.

However, for the second year in a row, the UK landed a score of zero points from Eurovision voters.

On Sunday night, the band landed back in the UK, telling fans that Eurovision was the “best experience of our lives”.

In an Instagram post, they wrote: “To the Eurovision community, you will always hold a very very special place in our hearts, thank you for showing us so much love and support and making our dreams come true. We love you all SO MUCH!”

In the end, the Austrian representative JJ became the new winner of Eurovision thanks to his song Wasted Love, pulling ahead with 79 more points than his closest competition.

This marked Austria’s first win since Conchita Wurst’s Rise Like A Phoenix more than a decade ago.

As was the case last year, this year’s Eurovision had been shrouded in controversy and even calls for a boycott in the lead-up to the final, due to Israel’s continued presence in the competition amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

On the night, Israel’s act Yuval Raphael finished in second place, having received more votes than any other act in the televoting.

After Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ became the fourth to raise questions to Eurovision organisers about Israel’s participation, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said it would hold discussions with its members about whether this should continue once this year’s contest was over.
