Sony recently released a revised PS5 Slim Digital edition console, which featured a smaller SSD, which was not a very popular change among PlayStation players. According to a new report, it appears the PS5 Pro will also be revised in a new model; however, it seems the changes may not be as controversial as those in its slim counterpart.
What is the new PS5 Pro revised model?
As seen in certification documents found by billbil-kun at Dealabs, the new CFI-7121 PS5 Pro model is set to release in Europe on September 30; it is unknown if it will release in North America. Much of the information is unsurprising. The price will remain at €799.99 and unlike the previously released PS5 Slim revision, it will keep its typical 2TB SSD storage. The actual physical design of the console will also remain the same.
It is currently unknown if the revised PS5 Pro model will improve on the initial version of the console. billbil-kun speculates that if there are improvements, they would be “modest,” like better energy efficiency.
The new PS5 Pro model’s launch happens just a few weeks after the new PS5 Slim Digital model, which rolled out in Europe on September 13. However, the new PS5 Pro will probably not get as much hate as the PS5 Slim Digital model, as Sony isn’t downgrading a feature, but keeping the price of the console at the same price. When the revised PS5 Slim Digital model was leaked, many PlayStation players voiced their displeasure online.
Another unpopular change is the PS5 price hikes. These hikes have finally found their way to the U.S., increasing the price of the PS5 family of consoles by $50. The price of the console has been criticized by gamers and developers alike. Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto had stated that the high price barrier may have impacted sales of its recently released game Monster Hunter Wilds.
