Today marks the launch of PS5 Pro, Sony’s new and improved current gen console. With its release comes a slew of updates that bring quality enhancements to some of the PS5’s biggest games.
Among the 50 plus games launching with enhancements, only two will have 8K support, with another coming pretty soon. Hello Games just revealed today its open universe game No Man’s Sky will be one of the first titles featuring PS5 Pro 8K support.
PS5 Pro 8K support for No Man’s Sky confirmed
No Man’s Sky is the third game confirmed to feature PS5 Pro 8K support. Details for its 8K graphics mode are sparse, but it is known that it will run at 30 frames per second. A newly released video gives a peek at what to expect. Anyone that has a compatible display can check out the video below.
PS5 Pro enhancements for No Man’s Sky don’t stop there. The console’s AI resolution upscaling technology, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), allows for both improved performance and graphics. Running at 4K resolution at 60 FPS, the update brings higher quality graphics across the board. This includes improved lighting, ultra quality reflections, and higher quality ambient occlusion in all graphics modes. PS VR2 improvements are also implemented.
Another feature rolling out for No Man’s Sky is cross-save support. Players can now cross-play and cross-save between any platform from current and last gen consoles.
As mentioned before, No Man’s Sky is just one of three games featuring PS5 Pro 8K support. The other game sporting the feature at the console’s launch is F1 24. The third is Gran Turismo 7. The PlayStation first party racing game will feature 8K resolution, but its PS5 Pro update is not out just yet. A date for the upcoming enhancement has yet to be announced.
