PS Store update

The PS Store has received a much-welcome update on the PS5 console, which comes with perks for using it. Not long after Sony nerfed the PlayStation Visa card points system, it has added new payment methods to the PS Store, including Apple Pay and Cash App. The former comes with a cashback offer. Previously, these additional payment methods were limited to the PS App.

PS Store update on PS5 console gives players more choice of payment methods

The addition of Apple Pay on the console store was first noted by folks over at 9TO5Mac, following which players noticed the addition of Cash App on top of existing payment methods like Venmo and debit/credit cards.

The best part? Using Apple Pay comes with 2% cashback offer for Apple Card holders. The caveat? Using Apple Pay can be a bit of a hassle. As 9TO5Mac points out, players will be prompted to scan a code using their iPhone or iPad, following which they’ll be given the option of which card to use and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

Those expecting a quick, 1-click affair will certainly be disappointed. But the cashback offer does come in handy as games continue to become more expensive going forward.

This PS Store update isn’t available on the PS4 yet.
