The Last of Us Part 1 PS Plus Extra / Premium launch appears to have significantly boosted the game’s player count. The remake of Naughty Dog’s 2013 hit was added to the catalog last Thursday, September 26, following which it quickly became one of the most popular games of the week.
PS Plus propels The Last of Us Part 1 ahead of Palworld, Black Myth: Wukong, and more
According to data gathered by PSNProfiles, TLOU1 is currently the third most popular game on PS5, surpassing the likes of juggernauts like Palworld (released September 24) and Black Myth: Wukong. At the time of this writing, only Astro Bot and EA Sports FC 25 are ahead of TLOU1.
Sony doesn’t frequently add first-party games to PS Plus, so TLOU1’s inclusion in the catalog was a nice surprise. The game was added to the service as part of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
To add some more perspective to the chart, PSNProfiles’ data is limited to those who sync their PSN activity, so the actual player count is expected to be much higher. Additionally, TLOU1 isn’t available to PS Plus Essential subscribers.
For those wondering about Astro’s Playroom, the game reappeared in the charts as Sony released free challenges that allow players to carry four additional secret characters over to Astro Bot.
