Ruben Amorim is a ‘great coach’ and the right man in charge of Manchester United despite their painful Europa League final defeat.
That is the opinion ofUnai Emery, whose Aston Villa side travel to Old Trafford on the final day of the Premier League season.
Ahead of Sunday’s games, Villa are sixth in the table, needing a positive result and some help from rivals in order to qualify for the Champions League.
No matter what they will be playing in Europe next season, which is more than can be said for United who blew that chance by losing to Tottenham in Bilbao on Wednesday night.
With the Red Devils condemned to their worst ever Premier League season, Amorim said he would resign if the club’s hierarchy and fans wanted him out.

Jamie Carragher believes a split maybe best for all parties but it is reported that there are no plans to axe the head coach.
And speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, Emery supported his under-pressure rival, saying: ‘Always, [I expect] the best of them. The best. The greatness of Manchester United is still there.

‘The great coach they have is still there. He did a fantastic job in Sporting Lisbon, fantastic, and not for one year, not two years, not three years – consistently.
‘When he arrived here, it was a difficult moment. They were in two competitions, as well as the FA Cup, but they were trying to be consistent.
‘They chose in one moment for the Europa League because it was a great way through it to get their target to be in the Champions League. Only one of them in the final could achieve their objective, and they lost.

‘But their greatness is still being there. The coach is a great coach and the players are very good players.
‘We have played here with Aston Villa for three years and I didn’t beat them here [Old Trafford]. My respect is a massive respect for Manchester United, their players and for the coach.’
As alluded to, Villa’s record against United since Emery joined has been shocking, with just one win in eight games, though they are yet to take on Amorim’s side.
Is Ruben Amorim the right coach for Man Utd?
Since the turn of the year, United have won just four Premier League games, three of which were against the relegated clubs and with the memories of the Bilbao final still fresh, no much is expected of the Red Devils on Sunday.
But that’s not an opinion shared by Emery, who added: ‘I expect the best of them because they will play honestly for the Premier League, for their supporters, to try and show their capacity to perform and to compete in the level they are.
‘We will try and prepare as best as possible the match with our game plan, with our focus, with our individual and collective performances we are having in the last matches.
‘I am very positive, I am very excited, I am very motivated to enjoy the process we are in today, tomorrow, and on Sunday.’
