WITH the cost-of-living crisis skyrocketing, affording the finer things in life is becoming challenging for many cash-strapped beauty buffs.

Whether it’s your favourite make-up essential or a designer perfume, many of us have had to give up our go-to products to save cash.

However, thrifty shoppers have discovered a brand new dupe on the high street – and it’s almost 100x cheaper than the real version.

So if you’re looking to smell fabulous this season without emptying your bank account, you may wish to keep reading.

One bargain-mad person, a member of the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, revealed that Poundland has now added a £1 scent they reckon is an alternative to the posh YSL Black Opium.

The aroma – Dark Aura – will set you back just a quid, while the designer version for a similar amount retails for more than an eye-watering £97.

While the two bottles look nothing alike, thrifty beauty lovers have noted the perfume ”smells really nice”.

Those who have already tried the scent for themselves, said it was ”lovely” – however, many did warn you might need to top it up every now and then.

Despite this, it still works out cheaper to go through a full bottle of the cut-price version compared to forking out the astronomical sum for the designer bottle.

Since being posted on the popular page, the post has racked up over 20 likes and close to a dozen comments.

Many social media users flocked to share their thoughts – as well as their top picks for smelling fabulous on a budget.

One said: ”These are lovely smells, home bargains do some good dupes and savers do.”

A second was raving over the purse-friendly scents, writing: ”Handy for your hand bag and if you don’t want to use expensive stuff.

”I’ve had a few different bottles from Poundland, lovely scents.”

”I love their fragrances,” someone else praised the discount retailer.

Poundland closures

This comes just days after Poundland announced the exact date of another high street store closure as it begins shuttering sites.

The budget chain is set to close four stores in May as its owner, Polish retailer Pepco Group, looks to offload the business.

The latest store to confirm a closure date is in Gravesend’s St George’s Centre.

The site will be shuttered for good on Thursday May 8.

The closure of Poundland’s Gravesend site will come less than a week after it pulls down the shutters on sites in London’s Clapham Junction railway station and a the Belle Valle shopping centre in Liverpool.

The Clapham Junction site will close on Friday May 2, while the Liverpool branch will be shut from Tuesday May 6.

Poundland is also preparing to close its store in Brackla, Wales, which is going to cease trading on May 24.

Just last month, Poundland was forced to shut its Belfast branch after the Connswater Shopping Centre was placed into receivership.
