Arch-rivals Portugal take on Spain tonight in the final of the UEFA Nations League.

The eagerly awaited showdown sees one of the greatest of all-time Cristiano Ronaldo up against the heir to Lionel Messi’s crown, Lamine Yamal.

Ronaldo’s Portugal won the inaugural Nations League in 2019 and the Manchester United legend scored the winner in the semi-final comeback victory against Germany.

Spain are looking to secure back-to-back titles to go alongside their Euro 2024 victory and booked their place in the final by beating France in a 5-4 thriller.

While only UEFA’s secondary competition, it gives us a good indication of who the favourites will be for next summer’s World Cup and the final promises to be an action-packed affair.

Where to watch Portugal vs Spain on TV and live stream

The 2025 Nations League final is being held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, which was also the venue for PSG’s Champions League final victory last month.

The match will kick-off tonight at 8pm UK time.

In the UK, ITV1 will be broadcasting the final with their coverage beginning at 7.30pm. You can also stream the action live on ITVX.

Is extra-time used in the Nations League final?

If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the final will go to extra-time. If no one can find a winner after the additional 30 minutes, a penalty shootout will decide the Nations League champions.

Portugal vs Spain team news

One change Portugal could make from the semi-final win would be to bring Vitinha, who excelled in the Champions League final, back into midfield alongside Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes.

That would push Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva into the forward line alongside Ronaldo and Chelsea winger Pedro Neto.

Spain boss Luis de la Fuente suggested he would make no changes to his side for the final despite nearly blowing a 4-0 lead against France.

Among the familiar faces likely to start are Tottenham and Chelsea full-backs Pedro Porro and Marc Cucurella, and Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino.
