Sony is developing a “groundbreaking AAA original” game for PlayStation at a new, undisclosed studio based in Los Angeles. It’ll be an entirely new intellectual property (IP), according to a job description making rounds online.

New PlayStation game and Studio rumored to be spearheaded by veteran dev

The job ad in question is for a Project Senior Producer at PlayStation, and reveals that the selected candidate will work in-office at a “newly established AAA studio based in Los Angeles.”

The ad further reveals that the unnamed studio is making the “next groundbreaking AAA original IP.” There’s an emphasis on a “high-caliber game,” that is further stressed in the qualifications section. Sony wants someone who has shipped multiple AAA titles, indicating that this will be a big-budget blockbuster type game.

As for the new studio, speculation suggests that this internal team is led by none other than Call of Duty veteran Jason Blundell. Blundell was previously leading Deviation Games, which shut down without ever releasing the PS5 exclusive that it was working on.

However, several former Deviation staff members revealed on LinkedIn that they had moved to PlayStation, where they are working under Blundell.

Sony never revealed its Deviation PS5 project, which has reportedly been canceled.
