READ MORE: Here’s everything we know about the ‘Peaky Blinders’ movieFilming recently wrapped on the upcoming Netflix movie, with creator Steven Knight also hinting at a new series set after the film, focusing on a new generation.
According to The Sun, the series is now set to go ahead and may see the return of Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby but as a “father figure” to younger gang members.
The seventh season has also apparently been approved by the BBC and is set to air sometime next year, according to the tabloid.
When contacted by NME, the BBC declined to comment on a potential new series or whether the corporation will air episodes of the show.

“The sixth series of Peaky Blinders was supposed to be the last and the movie was meant to be the final farewell for the story,” according to a source at The Sun.
“But show boss Steven Knight couldn’t resist coming back to the story – his most famous creation – and he’s been dropping hints he wanted to return to do more. But the fact that it’s been officially green-lit by the Beeb and wheels are in motion on pre- production will be a huge thrill to fans of the show, which was a huge hit for the BBC.”
The sixth and seemingly final season of the show was released in 2022. Murphy will return for the upcoming movie – The Immortal Man, which is set during World War II, alongside a supporting cast made up of Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth.
Knight recently said of the film: “I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”
“I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders,” Knight added.
The director also confirmed that the movie will be released in “about a year”.
