The 1960s were a pivotal time in music history, serving as the dawn for many now-deemed iconic artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and Grateful Dead. But, undeniably, two of the biggest names in music at the time were The Beatlesand Jimi Hendrix. The Beatles were famously composed of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The Beatles were formed (officially) in 1960 in Liverpool, and originally composed of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best, serving as the band’s original bassist and drummer respectively. However, in 1961, Sutcliffe left the band, and McCartney begrudgingly accepted the role as The Beatles’ new bassist, despite preferring to play lead guitar. Best also left the band in 1962, and he was ultimately replaced by Starr.
