Pattinson: “The Batman Part II” Is A ‘Real Left Turn’

A little over a week ago, Sebastian Stan teased that Matt Reeves’ currently in production “The Batman Part II” is a film he sees as something of a masterpiece, saying the experience is akin to making “The Godfather Part Two”, adding that “I feel that highly about it”.

Shooting has been underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, along with location shooting in Glasgow and Liverpool, under a veil of secrecy. Even so, set videos and photos have been out there and no-one is quite sure what to expect.

Now, the film’s star Robert Pattinson has teased that we’re in for something special. Promoting his new film “Primetime,” he tells Collider that the upcoming ‘Part II’ is less a continuation and more of a reinvention of the character:

“It’s so ambitious. I mean, I sort of said the other day on something that the first one was a different take on a Batman movie, and this one is another… It’s a real left turn from the first one, but somehow it keeps elements of the kind of feel of it. But it just feels really ambitious, and I’m excited to see how it turns out.”

Reeves famously took a very long time to get the script into shape, resulting in what Pattinson says is a very dense script with a LOT going on at once:

“When you see it, the script is incredibly dense, and it’s like he’s just one of those directors who it’s really obvious that he has the entire thing in his head already, and so it’s unusual to be working with someone when you keep forgetting with little elements.

There’s so much in it that it’s almost impossible to encompass the whole thing, but when you keep finding out, you’re like, ‘Oh, no, you know exactly what you want to do with this.’ There’s just something so cool about it.”
