Crunchy Parmesan Garlic Pasta Chips (1)

TikTok’s latest trend is pasta chips! Learn how to make these crunchy snacks with any pasta for a unique treat.

I’m an avid TikTok fan because I find some of the most unique viral recipes, including this one for Pasta Chips.

It’s so incredibly easy to make, and if you have kids, I bet they will enjoy them as part of a healthy snack.

If you think they sound strange, that’s fair, but try them at least once before you make a final decision.

I was skeptical, but both Mrs. CBB and I managed to crush a bowl in about 15 minutes. Delicious.

Honestly, you can use any pasta that you like, and it will work out fine.

I used Felicia Organic Red Lentil Pasta, which is high in protein and fibre, and is a healthy alternative to its flour-based cousin.

Next, I plan to try bow-tie pasta because it looks fantastic in a bowl and is easy to dip.

You can find the Felicia Red lentil pasta at your local Costco for $11.99, and it takes 10 minutes to make.

Healthy Planet Canada carries the Felicia brand as well, and you can buy other high-protein pastas on Amazon and in higher-end grocery stores.

For each cup of pasta, you get 26 grams of protein, 12 grams of fibre, and only 300 calories.

By the time you add the oil and seasonings, this recipe has 450 calories and yields 30 grams of protein.

Ingredients

1 cup dry red lentil pasta or other high-protein pasta 3 cups cold water 1 tsp salt 2 tbsp freshly grated Parmigiano Regianno cheese 3 cloves minced garlic 1 tsp avocado oil salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Fill a pot with 3 cups of cold water, then add salt before adding the penne pasta. Bring to a boil, then cook for 5-7 minutes, or until al dente. Remove from the heat, strain, and let the pasta air-dry for a minute or two. Add the avocado oil, parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to a large bowl with the cooked penne pasta. Mix until the pasta is thoroughly coated. Line an air fryer with parchment paper, then pour the pasta into it. Air-Fry at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Halfway through, open the air fryer and give it a shake to break up the pasta and loosen it. Let set for 2-3 minutes and enjoy crunchy pasta chips with your favourite dip or on their own.

Notes

If you use the oven, shake the pan every 5 minutes and set the temperature at 350 degrees for 17-20 minutes.

Use any pasta that you want. Cooking times may vary based on size and brand.

Avocado or extra virgin olive oil works best.

Use any seasonings that you like for the pasta chips.

Whip up your favourite dip.

One bowl is considered a sharing bowl for two people, to be eaten as-is or with a dip on the side.

I didn’t have time to make a homemade dip, so I used the bacon ranch dressing that we had in the refrigerator.

The next time I make this high-protein snack, I think I will make a creamy feta, Greek Yogurt, Lemon juice, and fresh dill dip.
