Oppenheimer’s Casey Affleck Admits He Made One Big Mistake With Christopher Nolan

Casey Affleck has admitted to an awkward mistake he made involving Christopher Nolan. Affleck worked with Nolan on the 2023 biographical movie Oppenheimer.

In a recent conversation at the Zurich Film Festival, Affleck recalled one embarrassing mistake involving the director. He also stated that the awkward moment could have been easily avoided. The Light of My Life star said, per The Hollywood Reporter, “I did once call him. I was driving home from school with my son, and we were talking about Tenet, and we were disagreeing about it. And I thought, ‘Let’s settle this! And we called Chris, which probably was a mistake.”

Affleck further added, “I [actually] called Emma [Thomas], his wife, and I said, ‘I just have a quick question, and we got him on the phone and asked him something that we probably could have just looked at [on] Reddit and figured out.”

Casey pointed out that soon after having the conversation, he felt extremely bad as the answer to his query was pretty obvious. Since that day, the duo hasn’t had a phone call.

Casey Affleck took up the role of U.S. Army military intelligence officer Boris Pash in Christopher Nolan’s 2023 film Oppenheimer. He appears in a scene with Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer, who questions him about his past communist associations and left-wing ties. Alongside Oppenheimer, Affleck has worked on another Christopher Nolan project.

Affleck is part of the cast of the 2014 Christopher Nolan-directed film Interstellar. In the sci-fi adventure movie, he portrays the adult version of Tom Cooper, son of the main character Joseph Cooper. Matthew McConaughey took up the role of Joseph.
