“Aren’t we all?” was the line that Jakob Ingebrigtsen said as he playfully trolled his rivals for skipping the action a few days back! Since then, it’s been all gas, no brakes for the Norwegian superstar. Ever since he stole the show at Stade de France during the Paris Olympics, Jakob’s been unstoppable, making every race look like a walk in the park. So when the big showdown in Nanjing arrived, everyone already knew who was about to own the track. And guess what Jakob did?

When Jakob Ingebrigtsen landed in Nanjing a few days ago, he had never won a gold at the World Indoor Championships. Fast forward to a busy weekend, and now he’s got two hanging around his neck! On Sunday, March 23, he clinched the 1500m title in 3:38.79, just a day after dominating the 3000m. The early pace was slow, with Sam Prakl leading through 400m in 62 seconds, but Jakob took over before 700m and gradually turned up the heat.

On the final lap, he held off Portugal’s Isaac Nader while Britain’s Neil Gourley’s strong finish earned him silver in 3:39.07, with America’s Luke Houser grabbing bronze in 3:39.17. Jakob wasn’t messing around in Nanjing. After being out-kicked in major championships before — remember Samuel Tefera beating him in 2022? — Jakob was determined not to let that happen again. And boy, did he deliver!

With this double gold, he joined an elite club, becoming only the second man after Haile Gebrselassie in 1999 to win both the 1500m and 3000m at a single World Indoor Championship. Reflecting on his success, Jakob kept it cool, saying, “It’s something special. I’m not comparing myself to history — I just focus on being prepared and making the most of my opportunities.” But we can not forget at just 24, Jakob’s medal collection is getting ridiculous.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s winning streak shows no signs of slowing down

Right now Jakob Ingebrigtsen has 27 international medals, 22 of them gold! We’re talking two Olympic titles, two world titles, six European outdoor crowns, seven European indoor golds, and 21 Diamond League wins. But if you think he’s satisfied, think again. “I think I can do more, so I’ll try to maximize that and grab every opportunity,” he said. Safe to say, Jakob’s not just winning. No, he’s rewriting the record books. But while Jakob dominates the track, he’s also got a knack for poking fun at his competitors.

When Jakob Ingebrigtsen cruised through his heat in China, clocking  3:39.80, his usual rivals, Cole Hocker and Yared Nuguse, were nowhere to be seen. Instead of lining up against Jakob, they were off preparing for Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track. With his biggest threats missing in action, Jakob’s path to victory looked almost too easy. Even at that time, fans noticed how dominant he looked.

When asked if he missed his rivals after his Paris Olympic triumph, Jakob didn’t disappoint. He casually quipped, “Aren’t we all?” — a playful jab that had fans laughing. It was cool, confident, and always ready with a clever remark, Jakob. But with world records in the 1500m, 3000m, and 2000m already to his name — and after breaking Yared Nuguse’s indoor 1500m record earlier this year — Jakob’s not just running races, he’s leaving the competition in the dust. The real question now? Can anyone even catch up?
