{Note: Spoilers ahead…..do not continue reading if you haven’t finished the book!}

Oh my! What did I just read? I just finished Rebecca Yarros’ latest book in the Empyrean series today. There were so many twists and turns throughout this book that it’ll definitely keep you reading until you reach the end and I didn’t see the end coming. There are parts of it I should have seen coming and other parts I would never have guessed.

The one thing I still do not understand is the encounter with the irids. I understand that they don’t want to be apart of the war taking place, however, I agree with what Violet said. They shouldn’t be angry with the way Andarna turned out given that they left her egg at the Vale. If the irids want to be mad at how Andarna turned out then that is their own fault for leaving her behind in the first place. Maybe we’ll find out later if there was a reason that the irids left an egg behind in the first place….? Plus, I want to know why Andarna left with one of the irids and then suddenly returned at the end. I’d love to hear from Andarna about leaving and then returning to Violet.

Synopsis: After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust.

Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.
