One Year Later, I'm Still Convinced Audiences Really Overreacted About The Acolyte

There's little doubt The Acolytebecame Star Wars' most controversial TV show, but, one year later, I'm still convinced that most of the backlash to it was overstated. The Acolyte was released on June 4, 2024, and by the time the show concluded on July 16, 2024, it had become one of the biggest hot-button issues among all Star Wars movies and TV shows. This was particularly jarring, first because that meant it had become even more controversial than the sequel trilogy, and second because of the vitriolic nature of this backlash (some of it before the show even aired).
