The Simpsons' Season 5 episode “Burns’ Heir” sees Bart (Nancy Cartwright) named by Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer), impressed by him being a “creature of pure malevolence,” as his legal heir. It’s a heartwarming episode, in a way that only The Simpsons can do, in which Bart realizes how much he loves his family, but only after putting them through hell.
