The end of October marked a turning point for many of us TV obsessives. What were we going to do, now that Celebrity Traitors season 2 was over?
We’re only a few days into November, and I’m already fatigued by the people claiming that the BBC phenomenon is going downhill after James Acaster’s decision to reveal he was a Traitor. It’s complete codswallop, in my opinion.
It’s still the biggest show on British TV, and I have absolutely no doubt that the naysayers are all going to be glued to season 3. Plus, while I also disagreed with some of James’ actions, he was still a highly entertaining player and it was a game. Everyone needs to chill out now.
While we count down the days until The Traitors season 5 launches in the New Year (how are there less than 60 days until 2027?!) November is rife with gripping TV to sink your teeth into.
The month begins with two stellar shows about assassins and espionage, Black Doves and The Assassin, before we all take a trip back to the jungle in Australia for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Here are six of the best November shows to have on your radar.
Black Doves season 2
When Black Doves launched in 2024, it quickly became one of my favourite shows of the year. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, but Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw are a powerhouse duo as best friends Helen and Sam, who also happen to be a spy and an assassin, respectively.
Sarah Lancashire is quietly menacing as Black Doves spy boss Reed, whose shocking backstory will take viewers on an emotional rollercoaster in season 2. Ambika Mod is a stellar addition to the cast as Laila, a Black Doves agent whose sassy quips are just as lethal as her skills with a gun. Netflix, I’m going to need season 3 confirmed as soon as possible.
Black Doves season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
The Assassin season 2
It’s a wonder that prior to the premiere of The Assassin in 2025, Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore had never played mother and son on-screen before. Their chemistry on screen encapsulates that awkward relationship perfectly once again in season 2, even when Julie and Edward are running for their lives, fighting with a foe in a tiny car, and trying to save Edward’s wife Kayla (Shalom Brune-Franklin) after she was kidnapped on their honeymoon.
Edward might not want his estranged mum’s help, but he needs it more than he realises. But can they mend their fractured relationship if Julie refuses to let him in completely?
The Assassin season 2 is available to stream on Prime Video.
Rivals season 2 part 2
I cannot wait to return to Rutshire when Rivals comes back with the second half of season 2. I was utterly heartbroken by the end of episode six, when Monica (Claire Rushbrook) tragically died shortly after deciding to end her marriage to the devious Tony (David Tennant). She deserved to have her revenge and a life filled with love, and that was cruelly taken away from her.
What will also become of the love triangle brewing between Taggie (Bella Maclean), Rupert (Alex Hassell), and Bas (Luke Pasqualino), Tony’s younger brother? Rupert has missed several chances to prove to Taggie that he’s the one for her, but come on now – they’re still surely going to be endgame.
Rivals season 2 returns with a three-episode premiere on Wednesday 11 November on Disney Plus.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3
Earlier this year, I managed to successfully complete the Lord of the Rings extended edition marathon at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, beginning around 8pm and lasting a full 12 hours through all three films. So yes, I’m a Lord of the Rings nut.
I still feel a little bit conflicted about how Rings of Power has transformed the evil entity that is Sauron (Charlie Vickers) into a heartthrob, but this obviously feeds into his allure as a force of malice.
In season 3, we return to Middle-earth at war, as Sauron’s armies cause destruction and ravage any enemies that cross their paths. We know that eventually, Sauron will be defeated (until he returns as that huge eye atop the tower in Mordor). But with Rings of Power reportedly spanning five seasons, we have a lot of obstacles to face until we get there.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 premieres with the first four episodes on Wednesday November 11 on Prime Video.
Blade Runner 2099
When I hear the name ‘Blade Runner’ the first thought that comes to mind might be Alison Hammond’s iconic interview with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling for 2049. But all jokes aside, I’m intrigued to see what Blade Runner 2099 has to offer.
Set 50 years after the events of the last film (hence the title), the limited series is set in a ‘reborn’ version of Los Angeles, where a human called Cora (Hunter Schafer) has gone undercover as a Blade Runner, partnering with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a Replicant Blade Runner who’s reaching the end of her lifespan.
I love sci-fi, but I have to admit that I’m going to need a refresher on Blade Runner lore.
Blade Runner 2099 premieres on Wednesday November 25 on Prime Video.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
It’s that time of year again – I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here is days away from its return.
While ITV is yet to officially confirm the line-up, the reported cast is full of huge stars, several of whom have been rumoured for years. Wayne Rooney is apparently following in Coleen’s footsteps to head into the jungle, while Leigh Francis has supposedly signed up after Ant and Dec urged him to say yes.
Gavin & Stacey legend Joanna Page is said to be entering camp months after her Taskmaster win, while AJ Odudu is reportedly swapping the Big Brother House for Bushtucker Trials. Who’s going to succeed Angry Ginge as the next King or Queen of the Jungle?
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Returns on Monday November 16 on ITV1 and ITVX.
