Christopher Nolan's often considered to be one of the best filmmakers working today, whether it's redefining Batman with the Dark Knight trilogy or preparing to deliver his own take on Greek mythology with The Odyssey. He's also gained a reputation for having what's arguably the most eclectic taste in movies, as he's listed classics including Alienand Lawrence of Arabiaalongside more unconventional choices like Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobbyor the Fast & Furious films. Nolan freely admitted that one film he watched as a child had a trippy effect on him when he was younger: the Disney science fiction throwback The Black Hole. "Even to a nine-year-old Star Wars fanatic, this seemed pretty uneven, but some of the special effects still impress, and it boasts one of the most unexpectedly weird climaxes in cinema history. I actually had to rent it as an adult just to check that I hadn't made up the whole ending," Nolan said when listing 10 films that everyone should see. The Black Hole is worth watching, if only to see how trippy it is.
