Bengaluru witnessed chaos on Thursday morning during the premiere of Pawan Kalyan's much-awaited film They Call Him OG. At a theatre in KR Puram, fans got carried away with their celebrations and ended up damaging the cinema screen with a sword. A video of the incident, now going viral, shows a crowd of excited fans rushing towards the screen. In their frenzy, a few people slashed and tore it with a sword to mark the film's release. The screening had to be stopped immediately, leaving the rest of the audience disappointed. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, though the screen was badly damaged.
Clips of the incident are being widely shared online, with many people criticising the act as reckless and unsafe. Despite this, OG's release has been nothing short of grand. Across different cities, fans have turned up in large numbers for early morning shows, celebrating the film's arrival.
Directed by Sujeeth, the gangster drama features Pawan Kalyan alongside Emraan Hashmi, Prakash Raj, Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, and Sriya Reddy in key roles. The film has drawn mixed reactions from viewers, but its action-packed storyline has kept the buzz alive.
At the box office, the movie started strong. According to Sacnilk, They Call Him OG collected around 75 crore worldwide on its opening day, 45 crore from India and another 30 crore from overseas markets. This puts the film in a good position, though its long-term success will depend on whether it can sustain the momentum, especially in its Hindi release.
Pawan Kalyan's last outing, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, also opened well but slowed down due to poor reviews, ending with around 87 crore in India. Fans are now hopeful that OG will do better and cement its place as a blockbuster.
