It was officially announced in January 2023 that a revival/reboot of the popular Fox animated series King of the Hill had gone into development at Hulu. Since then, news about the cast and crew of the project has come out sporadically. No, Hulu has not canceled the King of the Hill reboot. Recently, the streaming platform shared the first look poster of the revival on its social media.

The original series aired for 13 seasons on Fox between January 12, 1997, and May 6, 2010. It revolves around the Hills, a blue-collar American family residing in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas. Not much is known about the plot of the reboot. What we do know is that it takes place years after the original series and features older versions of fan-favorite characters. In April 2025, Craig Erwich, the president of Disney Television Group, told Variety, “I think people are going to love the new King of the Hill. It is so perfect for our times without trying too hard. You see Hank Hill in a whole new way.”

Notably, Hank Hill, voiced by Mike Judge, is the main protagonist of the series. Judge is reprising his role in the reboot. Some of the other returning cast members are Kathy Najimy as Peggy Hill, Stephen Root as Bill Dauterive, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, and Lauren Tom as Minh and Connie Souphanousinphone.

The cast and creators of the reboot will appear at the ATX TV Festival at the Paramount Theater. The event, scheduled for May 30, 2025, will also have a sneak peek at the revival. The reboot, slated to run for two seasons, comes out in summer 2025, reportedly in August.
