It is hard to believe that any Nintendo franchise would not have found success in the West, especially in the US, considering how universally beloved practically everything it develops in-house or publishes ends up being. Indeed, Nintendo games make up the majority of the best-selling games of all time, with the likes of Pokémon, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario instantly hitting the top of the charts whenever they release. These are huge IPs all over the world, yet that was almost not the case.
