Newcastle United take on Chelsea in a battle for Champions League qualification at St James’ Park this afternoon.

Both sides, who sit fourth and fifth in the Premier League table heading into today’s game, have 63 points each and just three fixtures remaining.

Aston Villa, sixth, have the same total – having played an extra match – after their 1-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday as the top-five race heats up.

It is normally the case that only the top four qualify for the Champions League but UEFA has handed English clubs an extra spot for this season.

Chelsea beat Newcastle 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge but Eddie Howe’s knocked the Blues out the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 home win.
