We’ve made it well past the halfway point of September. For those of you involved in the school year in some capacity–as an educator, student, parent, or otherwise–hopefully this first month has been good. As we cross the seasonal line into fall, here’s hoping that if you’ve had a sweltering summer, the weather feels a little cooler. No doubt, the mornings and evenings are darker. Even though we continue to see a dearth of YA nonfiction options, YA comics options for September offer a little something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for the history and legend behind Saint Nick, the story of a girl a town believes is on a murdering spree because of her mother’s legacy, or the comic adaptation of a beloved fantasy YA title, prepare to build your TBR a little higher with this month’s new releases.

YA Nonfiction for September
 Groovy Hand Lettering by Linda ScottI can’t remember which publisher’s catalog this popped up in while I was compiling my seasonal list of upcoming releases. While I thought it was being published specifically for teen readers, it looks like it might now be a more general arts-and-crafts nonfiction title. That said, this one would do well for teen readers, so I’m keeping it in this roundup (and I won’t lie–I want to grab a copy myself!). Want to learn the art of fun hand lettering? This book will teach you some basic fancy forms and how to take your lettering to the next level. The design of this one is fun, bright, and super approachable. |
