In the 1988 drama film Clean and Sober, Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman share the screen for the first time. In a departure from the comedic roles he had been known for, Keaton plays Daryl, a successful real estate agent with a drug problem he hasn't accepted. Between embezzling from his firm and finding himself in legal crosshairs, his life goes from bad to worse, and while on the run, he meets Craig (played by Freeman). As a drug rehabilitation counselor, Craig helps Daryl accept his drug problem and work towards fixing it. Daryl stumbles along the way but eventually manages to get himself straight. Despite being a moderate critical success, Clean and Sober did not perform well commercially. Keaton and Freeman have not shared the screen since then, but that is bound to change after 38 years.
