New Thunderbolts* Poster Uses Iron Man, Thor & Other Avengers

The recent release of Thunderbolts* seems to have begun a new era in the MCU, with Marvel Studios officially releasing a poster for the film with a rebranded title, The New Avengers, with subtle nods to characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and more.

Marvel Studios recently took to social media to share a new poster for Thunderbolts* that features silhouettes of members from the original Avengers roster, including Iron Man and Captain America.

Shared on X (formerly Twitter), the new poster shows silhouetted figures of six members of the Thunderbolts, leaving out Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster, against a yellow-black backdrop. Interestingly, the one-sheet also linked the Thunderbolts to their Avengers counterparts by including shadows of the original lineup of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. While Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes served as the stand-in for Iron Man in the new Thunderbolts* poster, Yelena Belova was shown to be in the place of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.

Meanwhile, Wyatt Russell’s US Agent and David Harbour’s Red Guardian acted as alternatives for Captain America and Hulk, respectively. Lewis Pullman’s Sentry and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost completed the Thunderbolts* squad in the poster, serving as the contemporaries to Thor and Hawkeye. However, it is important to note that Marvel has not updated the movie’s title to The New Avengers.

Having hit theaters on May 2, 2025, Thunderbolts* has accumulated close to $300 million at the global box office so far. However, the movie’s financial performance has started to show signs of decline, with its box-office returns dropping by 55% in its second weekend. Despite raking in positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, the Jake Schreier-helmed film trails the 10-day earnings of the preceding MCU movie Captain America: Brave New World by $12.7 million.
