Eiichiro Oda‘s pirate adventure is getting a makeover as Netflix expands its One Piece universe with a new animated special. The two-part event brings the Straw Hat Pirates back to the screen in a comedic Lego format.
Lego One Piece is now streaming on Netflix as of Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Produced in partnership with The LEGO Group, Shueisha, and Atomic Cartoons, the special retells major events from the first two seasons of Netflix’s live-action One Piece. Each episode runs for 30 minutes.
The animated special also brings back the live-action cast to voice their Lego counterparts. Iñaki Godoy voices Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd returns as Nami, Mackenyu voices Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson plays Usopp, and Taz Skylar returns as Sanji. Mikaela Hoover also voices Tony Tony Chopper.
The story is told through Usopp’s perspective, with the Straw Hat sniper recounting the crew’s adventures to Chopper before the reindeer doctor officially joins the group. That framing allows the special to revisit the events of the East Blue and the crew’s early journey into the Grand Line.
The special focuses on the Straw Hats’ earliest adventures
Usopp recounts the Straw Hats’ early adventures while giving his own exaggerated version of what happened. The story revisits major events involving characters and enemies from the live-action series, including the crew’s battles against the Arlong Pirates and other enemies as they make their way toward the Grand Line.
Because the story is presented through Lego animation, familiar locations, characters, and action sequences receive a different visual treatment from the live-action series. Netflix describes the special as a comedic retelling designed to give new viewers and longtime fans another way to experience the story.
The project is directed by Chelsea Ker, with Tom Hyndman serving as showrunner, writer and executive producer. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda also serves as an executive producer, alongside Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, and Lars Danielsen for The Lego Group and Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements for Tomorrow Studios.
With both episodes now available, Lego One Piece gives Netflix subscribers a new animated version of the Straw Hats’ earliest adventures while continuing the streamer’s expansion of the franchise.
