If Bill Belichick wants to visit the New England Patriots’ facility, the current coach of the team doesn’t see it as a problem.

Mike Vrabel told Boston radio station WEEI on Monday that the University of North Carolina coach has been at New England’s Foxboro, Mass., facility as recently as 2024.

“Bill came back for, to the best of my knowledge, (to) Tom’s ceremony,” Vrabel said to the radio station, per ESPN, referring to Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame event in June 2024. “So I guess he’s welcomed back based on the fact he was there.

“I’ll just go by that — since his departure as the head coach here, he’s been back. I’ll leave it at that.”

When asked to address reports from The Athletic last week that he banned a Patriots scout from attending practices at North Carolina this summer, Belichick said bluntly, “It’s clear I’m not welcomed in their facility, so they aren’t welcomed in ours.”

Then, he added, “Simple as that.”

The Patriots cut ties with Belichick in January 2024 after the team had fallen on hard times following six Super Bowl wins under the coach’s leadership.

An ESPN source close to Belichick said his issue is “less about his physical presence at the facility and more about being treated with respect.”

Things have appeared testy between Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Belichick in recent years.

In an interview with the Boston Globe before the season when talking about his college gig, Belichick said: “There’s no owner, there’s no owner’s son.”

North Carolina improved to 1-1 under Belichick with a 20-3 win over lightly regarded Charlotte on Saturday. The Tar Heels lost 48-14 in their opener against TCU.
