When it comes to popular gaming franchises to emerge in the last 5–10 years, few have been as successful as Cyberpunk 2077, though it hasn’t been without its controversy. After years of development, it’s safe to say the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated in history, but it didn’t exactly go according to plan. The game launched in such a poor state that developer CD Projekt Red was forced to issue full refunds to those who were unable to enjoy it, but various quality-of-life and DLC updates over the years have fully redeemed it as one of the best next-gen games. Years later, Netflix released a new anime series inspired by the game, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which dropped its first season back in 2022 to resounding success.
