Netflix could find another group of teenagers, throw them into another supernatural mystery, and surround them with all the nostalgic needle drops it wanted, but Hawkins worked because those ingredients were never really the point. For all the monsters, government conspiracies, and trips into the Upside Down, Stranger Things became a phenomenon because we cared about the kids walking into danger together.
