The cost of a Netflix subscription is once again increasing.

For the second time in a little over a year, Netflix is raising prices on three of its streaming plans. The increased prices will be applied to both existing and new members; new subscribers will pay the updated price beginning today — Thursday, March 26, 2026 — while the higher costs will be rolled out to existing ones over the course of the next few weeks.

What are the new Netflix price hikes?

Per Variety, the cost of Netflix’s Standard With Ads plan is increasing by one dollar per month; it was $7.99 but will now be $8.99. The Standard plan — which includes no ads and allows for viewing on up to two devices at the same time — is increasing by two dollars per month, from $17.99 to $19.99. Lastly, the Premium plan is going up by $3 per month, from $24.99 to $26.00. The Premium plan comes with no ads, Ultra HD and HDR quality, and allows for viewing on four devices at once.

The company told the outlet in a statement, “Our approach remains the same: We continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members we are updating our prices to enable us to reinvest in quality entertainment and improve their experience by updating our prices.”

Netflix says that existing members will be notified by email a month before the new prices are applied to their accounts, though the timing is dependent on the member’s billing cycle.

Variety’s article notes, “The higher pricing shows that Netflix feels it has ‘pricing power’ relative to rival streamers, in industry jargon. While some customers may cancel over the higher fees, the company — the biggest subscription-streaming provider in the world with more than 325 million customers at the end of 2025 — has presumably calculated that the increased revenue per sub will offset any resulting churn.”

Home to original shows like Stranger Things and Bridgerton, Netflix previously raised its prices during the first quarter of 2025. This marked the first time in three years that they increased the pricing of the Standard plan.
