‘Navy SEALS Taught Me That’: Brad Pitt Details Intense Underwater Stunts for New Dog Movie

Brad Pitt revealed how he pulled off an intense scene in his upcoming movie. The 62-year-old Hollywood star attended the Nashville premiere of his new survival feature.

During a red-carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight about his new movie Heart of the Beast, Pitt opened up about filming a challenging underwater scene. The shot required him to hold his breath for an extended period. When asked how long he managed to stay underwater, Pitt said, “I was surprised. I was actually surprised. But you know, we have some good trainers.”

“You think you got to, like, suck in as much breath as possible, but first you got to exhale everything. You got to empty you got to empty the lungs and then inhale. And for some reason, it makes a big difference. Navy SEALs taught me that,” he continued.

When the interviewer followed up with questions about the training he had to undergo for the survival movie, Pitt joked, “When we get a little older, we get lazy.” However, he added, “I trained more in survival skills, like, you know, some of the basics: how to make fires, you know, make shelter, make fires in a wet situation, that kind of thing.”

What is Brad Pitt’s The Heart of the Beast dog movie about?

Heart of the Beast is helmed by David Ayer, marking his second collaboration with Brad Pitt after 2014’s Fury.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “After surviving a plane crash, a former special forces soldier finds himself trapped in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness with his combat dog. Together, they battle the elements and other animals in a harsh landscape that would likely kill any other man or dog.”

Alongside Pitt, the ensemble also includes Uber, J.K. Simmons, and Anna Lambe. The American survival thriller story is written by Cameron Alexander. Ayer and Pitt also served as producers, alongside Olivia Hamilton, Richard Raymond, and Marty Bowen.

Heart of the Beast will be released in theaters on September 25, 2026.
