This article contains SPOILERS for Murderbot season 1, episodes 1 & 2.Alexander Skarsgård's Murderbot may be named after his character, but there's another show within the Apple TV+ adaptation: The Rise & Fall of Sanctuary Moon. There are plenty of fictional "shows within shows" in modern television, from Invitation to Murder in Twin Peaks to The Itchy & Scratchy Show in The Simpsons. Murderbot has its own version of a show within a show, titled The Rise & Fall of Sanctuary Moon. By the end of Murderbot episode 2, we saw a few glimpses of Sanctuary Moon, but not enough to fully explain the fictional series.
