When you think of the biggest threat in The Mentalist, Patrick Jane's (Simon Baker) arch-nemesis Red John undoubtedly comes to mind. From his elusive yet domineering presence to the bloody and gory display he leaves at every crime scene, the show's villain was always a force to be reckoned with, lurking at the edge of each episode to rankle our nerves. Despite his huge role, Red John just doesn't compare to another recurring antagonist in the series, one that is arguably even more elusive and influential than Red John ever was. Played brilliantly by Malcolm McDowellwith all his creepy gravity, Brett Stiles, the leader of the cult Visualize, is by-far the most powerful villain in The Mentalist. From his interactions with Jane to his death, Stiles' power stems from ambiguity, creating a presence that rivals the show's most prolific serial killer.
