‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ Takes Flight at International Box Office Ahead of Domestic Debut

Ahead of its domestic release next week, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning debuted in a handful of overseas markets this weekend. The eighth installment of the legendary action franchise opened to excellent fan response in Japan and South Korea, as well as India – all three markets are considered strongholds for star Tom Cruise. Now in his 60s, the veteran is relying on decades of goodwill to draw audiences to theaters for The Final Reckoning, which is being marketed as the final installment of the series. The movie has already earned around $11.5 million from just three international markets, following a premiere at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. Over $5 million came from Korea, while nearly $4 million came from India; the movie has made more than $2 million in Japan.
