The Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning trailer and the cast listed on the movie’s official site don’t include an important cast member and their character from the previous two entries in the franchise: Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). This has led to the speculation that this actor might have been cut from the upcoming feature.

Vanessa Kirby’s White Widow not named in Mission: Impossible 8 cast

Vanessa Kirby portrays Alanna Mitsopolis / the White Widow in the Mission: Impossible franchise. As mentioned above, the character, a European arms broker and con artist, has previously appeared in two movies in the series.

However, the White Widow doesn’t appear in the official trailer for Mission: Impossible 8. Further, Kirby’s name isn’t in the list of cast members on the movie’s official site.

However, other database websites list Kirby as part of the cast, so it remains somewhat unclear whether she will appear in the movie or not. It’s possible that her character will play a smaller role in the storyline than in the previous movies.

Notably, the cast members listed on the official site are Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Nick Offerman, Ving Rhames, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Mariela Garriga, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Shea Whigham, Lucy Tulugarjuk, and more.

According to the official logline of the movie, the 8th cinematic entry in the Mission: Impossible will feature Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and the IMF team continuing “their search for the terrifying AI known as the Entity.” Chased by a “mysterious ghost” from his past, he joins forces with “new allies” in the hopes of preventing “the world as we know it from changing forever.”

Christopher McQuarrie, the director of the previous three Mission: Impossible movies, has helmed The Final Reckoning. He also penned the screenplay with Erik Jendresen.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning premieres at Cannes on May 14, 2025, before releasing in US theaters on May 23, 2025. If Kirby doesn’t appear in it, fans will see her as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The MCU movie comes out on July 25, 2025.
