Mike Tomlin Reveals What’s to Blame For Steelers’ Late Struggles Against Vikings

Week 4 for the Pittsburgh Steelers has ended with a 24-21 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. But it wasn’t such a close battle as the scoreboard looks. The Steelers carved out a 14-6 lead before the first half ended. Coming back, they followed it up with another touchdown in the third quarter, and a field goal in the fourth quarter to rake up the 24 points while the Vikings still trailed by 6 points. But that’s when the script almost flipped.

The Vikings made a resurgence, clawing out two touchdowns against the Steelers’ defense and raising the stakes to 21 points. Post-game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin left no doubt why that happened. As Josh Rowntree reports, “Tomlin talking about how bad the defense was leaking oil with injuries late and how they couldn’t do certain things schematically. Even more of a reason that not being mildly aggressive on offense to win the game makes no sense.”
