The Grammy-winning R&B singer last released a studio record in 2017 with ‘War & Leisure’, but now he has shared that his new LP will be out on October 23 via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records, the same day that Miguel turns 40. Pre-order/pre-save the album here.

He has shared the single ‘Caos’ exclusively via his S1C.LA platform, which you can access here. It is described in a press statement as opening with a “raw, existential Spanish monologue” before “unravelling into an experimental meditation on rebirth”.

In an Instagram post, he said: “Yeah, October 23rd, my fifth LP drops this year on my birthday. Shout out all the Scorpios, it’ll be the beginning of Scorpio season in the proper fashion. But look, if you want to get a sense of where I’m going, what the vibe is gonna be, you can go listen to it right now, the very first single, the title track is on my website, S1C.LA.”

“And the way it’s looking,” Miguel continued, “That’s the only place it’s gonna be. So you can hear it there exclusively. So check that out and let me know what you think about it. I got a lot more coming. Love you guys, thank you for the patience.”

Speaking further about the album, he added: “To rebuild, I had to destroy myself. That is the core confrontation of CAOS. Through my personal evolution, I learned that transformation is violent. CAOS is the sonic iteration of me bending that violence into something universally felt.”

Miguel had announced a new album ‘VISCERA’ in 2023 and played tracks from it at an invite-only event at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, where he performed one song suspended from hooks in his back, but that record never materialised.

In a four-star review of ‘War & Leisure’ upon its releaseNME said the “R&B saucepot lets it all hang out with his vibetastic fourth album”.

“True, ‘War & Leisure’ lacks the obvious identity that has marked out Miguel’s previous three albums, but that’s no fault. By comparison, this is a compelling collection of poptastic R&B tracks made to soundtrack your night out. Kick back and listen up, because Miguel insists you have a great time in 2018.”

Since then, he featured on Justice’s single ‘Saturnine’ last year, and he then appeared on BTS rapper J-hope’s single ‘Sweet Dreams’ in March this year.
