Coronation Street’s Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) is a nasty piece of work. Even when he and Lou (Farrel Hegarty) were turning up regularly at Chesney (Sam Aston) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell)’s house with cans of beer in hand, acting like good neighbours and good mates, there was always a threatening edge to Mick.

We already knew that he was the mysterious van driver Chesney had been feuding with, but Mick was also soon picking fights with George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).

When it was revealed that Mick is the father of Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne)’s prison nemesis Brody (Ryan Mulvey), Mick was soon getting involved by beating up Dylan’s dad Sean (Antony Cotton) for reporting Brody’s behaviour towards Dylan.

Recently Gary (Mikey North) offered Mick a job at the builders’ yard after Mick thwarted some thugs who were trying to steal Liam (Charlie Wrenshall)’s phone. But Mick’s behaviour towards Liam since then has revealed what kind of man he really is by bullying Liam and locking him in the tool shed.

This led to a fight between Gary and Mick, and police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) became involved. Gary was enraged that Kit didn’t take proper action against Mick.

When Mick went on to trash the builders’ yard, he taunted Gary that there was no point reporting it to the police because they wouldn’t do anything.

Upcoming episodes will reveal that the true target of Mick’s anger is Kit. A flashback episode confirms the connection between Mick, Lou and Kit and will show that Mick has every reason to hate Kit – while Kit has his own reasons for going easy on Mick.

Mick’s next vile act is to attack his wife Lou, leaving her with a nasty wound to her head. Sean and Gemma are unable to contact her and they panic, worrying what could have happened.

Sean goes to the police and reveals that it was Mick who previously attacked him and left him for dead. He hopes Mick will be arrested and Lou will be safe.

Mick, however, has sped away in his van. When Kit rings him Mick, totally out of control, screams that everything is Kit’s fault.

With both Kit and Lou apparently in danger from Mick, Lisa (Vicky Myers) is shocked when Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) is found by Maria (Samia Longchambon) with severe injuries and is left with swelling on his brain. He’s left fighting for his life – but was it Mick who attacked him?

Finally there’s a showdown on some waste ground away from the Street. Mick has taken Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) there to use as a bargaining chip to get Kit there for a massive showdown.

As the two face off, Bernie makes a plea to Kit that she tried to keep in touch with him after she abandoned him as a child. Will Kit risk his own life to protect the mother he thought never cared about him?

And how far is Mick willing to go to take brutal revenge?
