Michelle Rodriguez Joins Barbie Star’s New Comedy Movie As Letty Fans Wait for Fast Forever

Michelle Rodriguez is taking on a new kind of role while fans wait for the next Fast & Furious movie. The actress has joined the cast of Barbie star’s upcoming romantic comedy movie from Amazon MGM Studios. 

According to Deadline, Rodriguez is the latest addition to Egg Baby. Details about her character have not been revealed yet. She joins a cast that includes Kingston Rumi Southwick, Arthur Conti, known for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and Jean Smart, who recently completed her award-winning run on Max’s Hacks. 

The movie also stars Ariana Greenblatt, who played Sasha in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The project gives Rodriguez a chance to take on a different kind of role from the action-heavy parts that have defined much of her career.

It also comes as she prepares for another return as Letty Ortiz in Fast Forever, which is expected to serve as the final movie in Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise.

Rodriguez has played Letty for more than 20 years, since 2001. The character has become a key member of Dominic Toretto’s family and has remained an important part of the franchise across its many sequels.

What else has Michelle Rodriguez starred in besides the Fast and the Furious movies?

Rodriguez has built a varied career outside the Fast & Furious franchise. She made her film debut in 2000 with Karyn Kusama’s Girlfight, playing Diana Guzman. Her performance received critical acclaim and earned her several independent film awards.

She soon moved into bigger productions. Rodriguez played Trudy Chacón in James Cameron’s Avatar and Rain Ocampo in the Resident Evil movie series. She also appeared as Officer Chris Sanchez in the 2003 action movie S.W.A.T.

On television, Rodriguez became part of the cast of ABC’s hit series Lost. She played Ana Lucia Cortez during the show’s second season.

Her later work has continued to cover different genres. Rodriguez appeared in Steve McQueen’s 2018 crime drama Widows and played Holga Kilgore in the 2023 fantasy adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

Meanwhile, fans will have to wait for Fast Forever, which is set to bring Rodriguez back for what is planned as the final chapter of the long-running franchise.
