When you talk about the greatest places to be in, you simply cannot skip the legendary White Party. Michael Rubin’s guest list is nothing short of an all-star lineup. From Musicians to actors to athletes, as Kevin Hart once put it, this “legendary” event has it all. Jay-Z, Usher, Drake, Beyoncé, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Megan Fox, Joe Burrow, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and obviously, Tom Brady. You name them, and chances are you will find them decked up in all white, just having a blast of a time. Even Kevin Hart’s comment seems like a big old understatement.
Every year, on the 4th of July, streets are closed off and cars block driveways. Not for fireworks, though, but for Michael Rubin’s star-studded Hamptons estate event. “Might need a whole year for my liver to recover – ps good news – we didn’t need the medical tent this year, no major injuries lol,” Rubin joked once on IG after a party. A gathering so great that it sometimes needs medical tents. Whoa. If you need more context, the ‘24 party lasted a whole 13 hours. But for the first time since 2021, Michael Rubin’s not going to play host to the stars. And we have the final confirmation for this from Tom Brady himself.
Tom Brady’s appearance on the Impaulsive podcast brought many things to light. He talked about Shedeur Sanders, being called the GOAT, and even his epic Netflix roast. But as he discussed his watch collection, he stated the stars will probably have to find another place to watch the fireworks this year. Talking about an expensive watch he owns, he was asked whether he would wear it to the White Party. Brady said, “Michael’s not having it this year. That would be a great place to wear it.” But why not? Well, according to reports, the billionaire businessman has decided to do away with the party for good. Rubin will be focusing his energy “more on charitable events,” as per some insiders. But there is more to it than charity.
According to insiders, “The other thing to think about is how the Diddy White Parties have given the theme such a bad stigma after everything that came out this past year.” The rapper Diddy used to throw white parties himself up until 2009. He has recently been involved in multiple lawsuits and allegations, and that has tarnished the reputation that the White Party theme used to hold. So Rubin will not focus his energies elsewhere. And Brady no longer gets to wear his exclusive watch collection to Rubin’s party. Where else then? Maybe the Met Gala? Well, Brady has the answer to that, too.
Tom Brady’s tryst with timepieces
Over two decades, Tom Brady’s passion for watches has led him to curate an incredible collection. This isn’t new, though. His passion first sparked back in the late 1990s when his parents gave him his first watch for his graduation. Over time, with the kind of QB cash he has (his net worth is around $300 million), his collection has only increased tenfold. This ranges from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, and Cartier Crash. The Raiders co-owner even got a custom-made Audemars Piguet for his iconic Netflix roast. That’s how devoted he is to his watches.
On the Impaulsive podcast, Tom Brady was asked what his favorite watch was. The answer? “I got some great ones. – I got one recently. I’m not even going to tell you what it is. You’ll just see it and you’ll be like, ‘Damn, that’s the one he was talking about.’” Where will he wear it? Perhaps the Met Gala? Even this question got a signature Brady answer. “I’m not going to Met Gala. I wouldn’t wear – There needs to be security around.” Well, a watch so good it needs “security around”, consider us highly intrigued, Mr. Brady. While he doesn’t reveal it in the podcast, maybe we will get to see it in a major event that’s coming up. He would’ve worn it to Rubin’s White Party, but since that’s not happening, we may have to wait longer for the reveal.
Interestingly, in the podcast, Brady also says Jay-Z is his favourite rapper. The two do have a lot of mutual respect, and Jay-Z has also given Brady a “GOAT” shoutout at one point. But when it comes to the watch collections, according to Brady, Jay-Z is the clear winner. “I think Jay’s got me beat. – he’s got a lot of the RM, the Sapphires. He’s got a lot of old vintage uh Pateks.” Give it a little more time, though. The way he’s going, Tom Brady might just come up as the victor of this watch war someday soon.
