All eyes are on Michael B Jordan after he won his first Oscar last weekend, and it sounds like he has another winner in the pipeline with his upcoming film.
The Creed star was crowned best actor at the Oscars on Sunday for his dual role playing twins in the horror movie Sinners, and fans are now wondering when they’ll next see him on the big screen.
Until the end of 2025, Michael, 39, had spent the past year living in London while filming and directing the remake of the classic 90s romantic heist The Thomas Crown Affair, also starring Lily Gladstone, Adria Arjona and Danai Gurira.
The original was released in 1968 with Faye Dunaway and Steve McQueen before being remade for the first time in 1999, starring Pierce Brosnan in the lead.
Michael is now putting his own spin on the crime thriller and insiders have warned that it’ll be one of his best performances yet.
‘Michael is one of the few actors in the world who can carry an entire movie with his name alone,’ the source told Metro.
‘They had high hopes for the movie before the Oscars, but are confident it will blow everyone out of the water. This is because Amazon has seen rentals and purchases for all of his movies rise up in the last few days.’
The insider added that Just Mercy, the emotional legal drama released in 2019, in which Michael starred alongside Jamie Foxx, is seeing a rise in interest as fans search the star’s catalogue for his most dramatic roles.
As for The Thomas Crown Affair, the source added: ‘The studio is increasing its marketing spend for the movie and plans to boost the marketing in the UK because he has such a large fan base here. Amazon is buzzing.’
In January, Michael – who is also directing the thriller – revealed that filming had wrapped and he was in the editing suite.
Speaking about Michael’s time living in the capital, the insider told us: ‘He absolutely loved London and spent a lot of time travelling in and around the city on public transport, which is why he was spotted around Oxford Street. He spent a lot of time in Brixton and Notting Hill because of their connection to the Black diaspora, and ate a lot of Ghanaian food.’
The Thomas Crown Affair remake is set to be released by Amazon MGM Studios on March 5 2027, and he has a slew of other projects in the works, with his remake of Miami Vice also expected to drop next year.
Also on the horizon beyond 2027 is the highly anticipated I Am Legend sequel opposite Will Smith, Creed 4, which will be the latest instalment in the Rocky spin-off series, and Rainbow Six, the follow-up to the 2021 Tom Clancy blockbuster Without Remorse.
Other titles on Michael’s upcoming slate include Methusela, Wrong Answer and the animation Swapped, in which he voices a small woodland creature.

Momentum for the actor is at an all-time high following his incredible triumph at the Oscars, in which he fended off competition from the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothee Chalamet, Ethan Hawke and Wagner Moura to be crowned best actor.
During his emotional speech, Michael thanked fans for their support and also the five Black actors who won the best actor Oscar before him, including Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Sidney Poitier.
It’s been a rollercoaster awards season of highs and lows for Michael, who, alongside his Sinners co-star Delroy Lindo, was subjected to being called the N-word by Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson, who involuntarily shouted the slur at the Baftas. The BBC came under fire after failing to edit out the incident from its broadcast in February.
Sinners has cleaned up this awards season, winning four Oscars, Golden Globes and Baftas for the cast and production crew and industry insiders say its success is pushing Hollywood to platform original scripts and filmmaking more than ever before.
