Miami Local Eddy Palermo to Attempt Ultra-Marathon While DJing Live

In a world-first challenge, Miami local Eddy Palermo is set to attempt a 50km run while DJing live at The Underline park on August 8.

Anyone who knows Eddy Palermo or has attended one of his ZENSKI events knows he is bold, ambitious, and certainly not shy about promoting his events. Yet he balances this with a level and friendly demeanor that draws people in to support his goals. With the launch of BPMATHON, he is setting the bar very high for his next event and doing so on a public stage.

On August 8, at The Underline in Miami, Eddy will take on the challenge of running an ultra-marathon while DJ’ing a continuous live set for those in the park to enjoy. How attainable is this feat? He’s done ultra-marathons before, and this one is estimated to take him about seven hours. And he has DJ’d a seven-hour set before, so why not combine the two? A “custom-built, self-pushed DJ rig on wheels” will be used during the run. Imagine those runners pushing kids in strollers, only Eddy’s “kid” will be a DJ rig.

The deeper purpose behind this is that music and running are both huge passions of mine, and there’s nothing more I want to do than make a positive impact on the world through music. If this inspires even just one person to get out there and pursue their passions, or start running, this is a huge success. We’re raising money in support of Friends of The Underline, helping to encourage more people to get outside, be active, and step away from the stresses of modern life through running, biking, walking, and movement.

Organizing and hosting public spectacles is nothing new to Eddy.

Through his ZENSKI brand, Eddy hosts immersive dance parties with decor that would stun even the most die-hard theater nerd. And while he certainly enjoys a good dance party, he’s also hyper-focused on how his passions can support others. One ZENSKI event with DJ Minx headlining was in support of hearing protection, and every attendee received a free pair of Earpeace earplugs. Now, with BPMATHON, he’s supporting Friends of The Underline while also putting on a show for visitors in the park on August 8.

Eddy is a Miami native, a child of local Cuban and Italian parents. Music, sports, endurance, and giving back have long been a part of Eddy’s life. And while it’s not uncommon for ravers to do endurance sports (isn’t dancing for 12 hours or more an endurance sport?), rarely are the two combined. This unique event opens up endless possibilities for future crossover events. As an endurance cyclist myself, I’m already wondering when I’ll do my first 12-hour ride that includes a DJ pumping out my favorite beats!
