Giving players the chance to forge a town from untamed wilderness at the edge of the known world, Farthest Frontier pays host to an abundance of materials to obtain and crops to harvest, along with dozens of unique buildings to expand one’s town.

Tying everything together is Farthest Frontier’s singularly deep farming system, getting in the weeds (so to speak) with soil fertility and seasonal rotations.

The 1.0 release of Farthest Frontier will feature revamped progression, complete with a new 142-point Tech Tree for added freedom. Players can also build dozens of new buildings and take advantage of its new Policy system.

CEO & Creative Director Arthur Bruno said the following regarding the journey to 1.0:

“Farthest Frontier started out as sort of a self-indulgent passion project, to take a break from ARPGs and make the kind of town-builder game I’d dreamed of making in college, when I was playing games like Settlers 2, Caesar 3 and Ultimate Domain.

When we started development I was not sure how much demand there was for town-builders anymore, but Banished came out of nowhere and proved there was still a good-sized audience for the right kind of game.

Farthest Frontier contains a lot of the depth and ideas I’d always wanted to see in the genre, like more robust farming and an intricate, fully-simulated economy where villagers are actually carrying resources and items back and forth.

It’s been a huge challenge, especially since we’ve never had more than 8 people on it at a time but Farthest Frontier turned out bigger and better than I had imagined and I am incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve built.”

One can wishlist Farthest Frontier 1.0 via its official Steam page.
