If you’d been hoping to try McDonald’s latest dessert, we’ve got some bad news for you.

The fast food chain has confirmed that the brand new Caramel Loaded McFlurry has been taken off the menu, just days after it launched.

It joined the UK menu on September 10 to celebrate the return of McDonald’s Monopoly game and featured ice cream, caramel cubes, milk chocolate chips and white chocolate coated shortbread pieces all drizzled in caramel sauce.

According to McDonald’s it’s been removed from restaurants due to a ‘quality control issue’, although they did not share what the issue is.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s told Metro: ‘We are aware of a quality control issue relating to the Caramel Loaded McFlurry and can confirm that the item has been removed from our menu.

‘At McDonald’s, we place a strong emphasis on quality control and are disappointed by any instance where we fall short of our standards. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’

Fans have had mixed reactions to the new McFlurry over the last 10 days with some absolutely loving it and others claiming the caramel chunks were ‘so hard’ they had almost ‘broken their teeth’ trying to eat it.

On TikTok, a user named Ellie Innes hailed the caramel dessert as ‘stunning’ while @jess_annex claimed it was ‘the best McFlurry’ she’d ever had, branding it a ‘10/10’ and ‘unreal’.

But for some people the experience clearly wasn’t quite so enjoyable, as@mrshook20 said: ‘I nearly broke a tooth!’

‘The caramel pieces are too hard. Ruined it,’ agreed @barryjohnhannan.

And over on Reddit, u/Important_Duty9036 commented: ‘I can see why it’s off the menu for now. Those caramel cubes were waaaay too hard. I had to avoid them while I ate it. I can easily see there being a few broken teeth from them.’

Others have shared their upset over the decision to remove it from the menu completely with @i.sabellalee on Tiktok posting: ‘McDonald’s UK please give the people what they want (bar the caramel bits that break your teeth) please.’

Similarly @tieganjessica claimed her ‘heart is broken’ over the loss of the McFlurry. She wrote: ‘No, because what do you mean they aren’t bringing this back. A week wasn’t enough. My heart is broken I only got to try this once.’

A few people also begged McDonald’s to just ‘bring back the caramel sauce’ as that was their favourite part of the sweet treat.

McDonald’s hasn’t confirmed whether the Loaded Caramel McFlurry might make a comeback in future, but for now they’ve revealed that in its place the Toffee Crisp McFlurry will be returning.

This previously left the menu on July 30, but will be sold again for the next few weeks alongside the Jaffa Cake McFlurry.

For this, the classic ice cream is swirled with Toffee Crisp pieces and topped with toffee sauce and it costs £2.39 for a regular McFlurry.

Other items currently on the menu for a limited time include the Philly Cheese Stack, the Chicken Big Mac, Honeycomb Latte and Mozzarella Dippers.
