Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson‘s new show has broken an unfortunate Rotten Tomatoes record. The Apple TV+ show premiered on the streamer on September 23, 2026, and reviews have poured in across review platforms.

On Rotten Tomatoes, McConaughey and Harrelson’s Apple TV+ show Brothers has received a 57% Tomatometer score. This number makes the upcoming show the worst-reviewed TV show for both actors, setting the unfortunate record. However, since more reviews may pour in over time, these scores may fluctuate. As of now, no Popcornmeter scores have been added yet.

Although the Rotten Tomatoes score for Brothers marks the True Detective stars’ worst-rated TV show, both actors have received even lower scores on the platform for other projects. For instance, the Interstellar star’s lowest-rated movie is Surfer, Dude (2008), which received 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, the Nanking actor’s lowest-rated movie is Free Jimmy (2006), with a 10% score.

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s show Brothers takes a unique approach, where the actors play themselves in a fictionalized setting. According to the synopsis, Harrelson’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, so he takes his family to his lifelong friend McConaughey’s farmhouse as a healing getaway.

However, things start to turn chaotic when his friend’s mother, Ma Mac, accidentally reveals that the two friends might actually be brothers. On one hand, Harrelson sets off in pursuit of the truth on the ranch; on the other, McConaughey grapples with an identity crisis as he considers a run for Governor of Texas. Consequently, this leads to a heartfelt, chaotic, and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame, and the messy line between myth and reality.

Brothers was created by David West Read and Lee Eisenberg, alongside the lead actors. Trent O’Donnell and Jason Winer helmed the Apple TV show. Read and Eisenberg also served as showrunners for the 8-episode Apple TV series.

Apart from McConaughey and Harrelson, the ensemble also includes Ella Grace Helton, Barry Corbin, Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Holland Taylor, Highdee Kuan, and Richard Robichaux.
