As much as Doctor Who is a light-hearted TV show full of sci-fi and adventure, it's also a series that will suddenly bring a tear to the eye, breaking the audience's hearts. Matt Smith portrayed the Eleventh Doctor, and while viewers were initially uncertain if he could take the reins from Tennant, he quickly proved his skills through his best work on the show and the emotionally exhausting episodes he anchored.
